It’s insane to think about how much Lucha Libre would happen in just one weekend in the Los Angeles area in the mid 90’s. This area of La Opinion really shows how insane it was. Not only were they plugging the “La Revancha” show that took place on August 28th, but also the shows in Compton, the L.A. version of Arena Mexico, All Nations Center, and more! Lots of the same names at each show, but each show had their own feeling to them that made each one different!

And speaking of “La Revancha”, check out all of these clippings for the first ever AAA/IWC show that took place on August 28th, 1993. The show turned away thousands of people at the door (myself included). The show was highlighted by a 3 way match (different than other ones you’ve seen, as one person would fight another, and then the winner would fight the person who didn’t wrestle early on.) Here’s the complete show (PHOTO ABOVE OF GRINGOS LOCOS TAKEN BY MIKE LANO)

The November 12th, 1993 AAA/IWC show is a show that I will never forget as long as I personally live. For those who know my personal story, this was the night that I was kicked out of the building before the show began, because I was being an idiot running around with a “100% Rudos” sign and pissing off the 99% Mexican crowd. Here’s a story about the state of Lucha Libre in Mexico City that came out on May 23rd. I believe the story is talking about how there is so much Lucha there with CMLL, AAA, UWA, etc., there is starting to be an oversaturation of the market down there.

Here’s a story from the July 11th edition of La Opinion, talking about a problem with the arenas in Mexico City

Atlantis tells you why KWHY-TV (Galavision in Los Angeles) was the best alternative in the Los Angeles area!

Here’s a clipping talking about the CMLL Anniversary show, with the main event being a mask vs mask match with Atlantis taking on Mano Negra (Atlantis was the winner).

Here’s 4 WWF clippings that were inside of La Opinion throughout 1993, two at the newly built Anaheim Pond, one more in Long Beach, and another at the Los Angeles Sports Arena
