Lucha Clippings from So. Cal 1994

Here is a write up for the year of 1993 from La Opinion in the January 17th edition, talking about the three big companies (CMLL, AAA, UWA), the top stars, the passing of Oro, and so much more

Here is the flyer to the February 12th, 1994 show in Carson, CA. This was the one and only TV tapings for a new company called “Mexican Wrestling USA”, featuring a ton of top CMLL names on it. I was here live and remember this being a really good show

Here’s the flyer for the February 19th show in Carson. I don’t remember being here live, but it had Mocho Cota, Dandy, Blue Demon Jr., and much more.

Here’s a flyer for a show in Carson on February 26th. I remember being here live because I was such a huge fan of Emilio Charles Jr, and it was my first time seeing Great Goliath live

Flyer for the show on March 4th in Compton (and also results from the week before). The big name for the 3/4 show was Ultrataro (I believe a big name from Tijuana)

Flyer for the Compton show on March 11th. The main was Lover Boy vs Piloto Suicida for the WWA Welterweight title. If my memory serves me right, Lover Boy won by DQ because Piloto used a closed fist. I remember this being a rare time that Karl Lauer attended a Compton show as well

Flyers and clippings for the March 12th show at the LA Sports Arena for AAA. Main was a cage match with Jake Roberts against Konnan. Interesting note was to see Chris Candido’s name listed originally on the show

Here’s the clipping for the Compton show that took place on March 18th. Main seems to be another Piloto Suicida vs Lover Boy match, and the semi is a mask vs mask match with El Final vs Tornado Negro II.

Here is the June 10th show in Compton, with the debut of Acero Dorado. Main was Jalisco, Benny Carranza, and Triton against Lover Boy, Al Murrieta, and Ultratumba.

Here is a show that took place in San Bernardino (I’m assuming Great Goliath was the promoter) that took place on June 11th. Main was a mask vs mask match with El Astro vs Flammer

Here’s the flyer for the July 1st show in Compton, with a tag tournment during the entire show

Here’s all the clippings for the AAA show at the LA Sports Arena on August 6th, 1994. Main was Espectrito vs Mascarita Sagrada in a mask vs mask match, along with a Konnan and Perro Aguayo against Vampiro (who was with CMLL at the time) and Jake Roberts match. If I recall, Vamp and Konnan never locked up during the match

I need to research this place a little more, but here’s a flyer for a building called “Arena Coliseo” that is in the city of Compton on 66th St. Looks like Falcon de Oro was the big star of the night.

Here’s a show at Huntington Park Casino on October 16th, and damn do I wish I attended. Main was Los Brazos vs Los Mercenarios (extremely huge feud in Los Angeles and Mexico), and also Rey Misterio Sr vs Bobby Bradley was the semi. One of the opening matches (and this was confirmed) was Sam Houston and Charlie Norris against Jalisco I and Pistol Pete. Talk about WAR six man like!

Here’s a handful of clippings and flyers to the “When Worlds Collide/Cuando Los Mundos Chocan” show on November 6th. This was one of the most successful shows in history, as WCW helped AAA show the event on PPV. Main was a cage match between Konnan vs Perro Aguayo. One of the undercard matches, to this date, is still the best live match I’ve ever seen, with El Hijo del Santo and Octagon against Love Machine and Eddie Guerrero in a double mask vs double hair match

This is the final show of the year in the Los Angeles area! Compton on December 30th, with several AAA stars on the show, like Rey Misterio Sr, Jr, Psicosis, Super Muneco, and many more!
